Summer Fun

Here are a few of my favorites that don't have much of a story to them, just that they are cute!
Relaxing after a long day of playing in the sunshine!
Just too cute!
We've done lots of playing in the back yard pool this summer. Here he is picking grass and putting it in the pool and than throwing it back out.
Driving his front end loader. I didn't realize this was a ride on toy ;)
I will end this post with one of my favorites! Good ol' lemons, it's hard to tell in this picture but he does actually like them!

Jacob's new play structure

I have been watching Craigslist for used wooden play structures for a couple of months. It seemed every time I found one I would call and someone was already on their way to pick it up. I finally got a call back and was able to go look at one, I was pretty much already sold on it, just needed to discuss price a bit :) I am so happy we got it, because Jacob has really been enjoying it. He loves to swing and go down the slide and also send his trucks and other miscellaneous things down the slide.

We had to purchase a few new pieces of wood and some screws. Jacob was Warren's big helper.
Here we are trying to get the tower put back together.
Almost finished, but Jacob just couldn't wait any longer. He had been waiting all day to play on this. Since these pictures Warren has pressure washed all the wood and and stained it.

Multnomah Falls

It has been awhile since I have done this hike and I recall it being a fairly easy hike. I told Warren that it is nicely paved and well groomed hike. We decided we would take the stroller with us so if Jacob got tired we could put him in it and push him along. What a stupid idea. Jacob ended up hiking 3/4th the way up and then wanted me to hold him the rest of the way up. Warren gave me a break from holding him, but to be honest pushing the stroller up was not much of a break. The path way is not nearly as nice and easy as I remembered it being. We heard several comments from other hikers such as:
"You have to be very motivated to take your kids hiking"
"Wow their working hard"
"I can't imagine pushing a stroller up here"
I just chalked it up to making the hike more dynamic and a much better work out. Once we got to the top our plan was to put Jacob in the stroller and just leisurely push him down. That didn't work at all, because he wouldn't stop crying for mommy to hold him. So I ended up holding him half way down as well. It was fun to go on a hike and for Jacob to see a real waterfall, but a big lesson learned to leave the stroller in the car!

Looking down from the top! Such a pretty view.

Jeff and Mary Kay's Block Party

My mom and Jeff had a block party with all their neighbors. It was a lot fun with lots of good food. Jacob loved these gigantic "Cats". I kept trying to tell him they were squirrels even though I know they are chipmunks, but he has seen several squirrels in our backyard so I thought he might see the connection.

They had a huge bouncy house there which Jacob has been terrified of them for months. He did not want go in this one at all. I finally dragged him in there when there were no other kids and we just sat in the corner for a bit. After that I let him sit by himself and watch me jump. He still was not too impressed. Finally I told him to watch mommy do a somersault and I did a front flip and a back flip. After that he got a big smile on his face and stood up and started walking back and forth and then running. I was so excited! After about 15 minutes of that he finally grabbed onto the netting and started jumping up and down and then he was hooked on the bounce house. We couldn't get him out all night until it was time to go. He was jumping and bouncing on his bottom and falling all over the place. He kept saying, "Jumping outside funny" and then he would laugh. It was so cute to watch him have such a fun time!

Clackamas County Fair

This was Jacob's first time going to the Clackamas County Fair, let alone any fair. I was so excited to take him. I think it might have been a little much for him, because he was going a little crazy. We first went to a buckaroo breakfast where he nearly ate a second breakfast, then we went to the new butterfly exhibit which was really neat, looked at most the animals, and lastly got to go on his first pony ride.
Right when I walked into the butterfly exhibit a butterfly landed on my head. You can see Jacob trying to poke it with the q-tip.
He loved trying to feed the butterflies, but his technique was not quite there. He would dip his q-tip into the nectar and then poke the butterfly really fast and say, "feeding butterfly" with a big smile. Usually they would fly away from him and he also got a big smile with that and would say, "Butterfly fly!"

When we first went to visit the goats we were pushing him in his stroller and two different goats poked their heads out and started chewing on his stroller. Jacob would look at the goat with a mad face and and make a whining noise. Once we let him out of his stroller he was very eager to pet them, but I was a bit nervous about it.
Here's the pony ride. Again he took this very seriously, it's an important task. He cracks me up!

Once he was done he pointed at the white horse and said, "Ride this one". He really enjoyed it. I was bit nervous he might try and ride it like his horse on springs at home, but he did a very good job!

Camping at Lake Billy Chinook

At the end of July we went to Lake Billy Chinook. Warren's dad's family was having a family reunion. Warren's dad Jim and his step mom Melissa have a place in Three River's Marina which is a gated community up there. Some people slept inside the house and others brought their 5th wheels. We borrowed their camper and tried our luck in that. This was Jacob's first time not sleeping in his crib. The first night took me about 2 hours to get him to stay in his bed and go to sleep, I was about ready to go to sleep by then as well. Needless to say it did get easier with each night. I think he really enjoyed all of us sleeping in such a small place together. He would wake up in the middle of night and cry out "mommy" and Warren would just sit his head up and say, "It's ok buddy" and Jacob would say back to him "Buddy...." and then Warren would say, "Go back to bed" and we wouldn't hear another peep from him. I just kept thinking to myself this is to easy what's up??? But really that is all it took! It ended up being a lot of fun and we are looking forward to more camping trips.
Playing at the lake

Dump truck rides. Only to be that small again!
Helping launch the boat!

Jacob was squirting Grandma B with his water gun. He thought it was so funny and luckily it was very hot outside so it probably felt refreshing to Melissa.

This is Kathy, Warren's Dad's sister. Jacob and her had a good time together.
Oh the tractors......and their buckets. We talk about tractors and their buckets everyday. He loved being able to crawl into them and spent a good chunk of his time sitting, crawling, or touching Grandpa B's tractor.

Special treat! Warren helped him guide the bucket up and then back down! Total concentration.
Here is a picture of all the family and dogs that were there!

Water Park Fun!

We have been hitting up the water park in Wilsonville a lot this summer. Jacob loves all the different fountains and the waterfalls and it's a great way to stay cooled off!
This is Jacob's friend Aubree. She loves to hold his hand, they are so cute together!

He was collecting water in his bowl and carrying it over to the stream as if he was filling up the stream himself. Always finding work to do :)

This last picture I just had to put in, because I love how his tummy is sticking all out!
