I have decided to start up the blog that I was using with Jacob in China, but I have changed the name of it to "The Buehler Bunch" ..... do you get it?? This way it can include the whole family!
Since I am not really into the whole social media thing I felt like this is a good way for me to share our pictures and events with everyone since we don't get to see and talk to all of you often enough!
Oh my what a beautiful Valentines weekend we just had! Unbelievable weather for February! I was going stir crazy on Saturday just wanted to get out in the sun, but to do something fun not yard work or a short bike ride. After a few ideas we decided on taking the kids on a hike in the gorge called Wahclella Falls and visiting the Bonneville Dam and fish hatchery. What a fun day! The weather was perfect and Jacob was an awesome nature trekker. He loved every bit of it and did not complain about the length of the hike at all. The trail head says it is a 1 mile hike, but the website I found the hike on said it was 1.8 miles so I am not sure. It felt longer than 1 mile so I am going to go with 1.5 miles. It was a pretty good trail for kids, just a little cliffy so we had to make sure Jacob stayed on the inside of the trail, which for the most part he did a good job!
Here are some of the pictures from out day trip....
Feeling how cold the water was.
The first waterfall we came to. Scared Jacob every time we would try to stop and get a picture with him. That picture with Warren is a very scared wave and get me the heck off this fence!
Wahclella Falls. It seemed a lot bigger than it
appears in my pictures. It was hard to get pictures
of it because the waterfall was spraying water all over
my lens and Emmett was a little frightened of the waterfall.
This was a pretty big cave, it went back very far. Jacob wanted to
go as far back as he could, but we were a little worried about it.
Warren is showing Jacob the huge cliff that sits on top of the cave he
was just in...a little scary.
We let Emmett down to stretch his legs out about the last 1/4 mile.
He did great, held my hand and was enjoying every bit of it!
After the hike we headed over to Bonneville Dam and the fish hatchery.
The boys had a good time running around and looking at everything.
Lastly was the fish hatchery. We saw the ginormous sturgeon Hermon.
We also saw lots of rainbow trout, some ducks, and some baby fish.
They had a little mock up of a fish ladder in the trout pond, Jacob really
enjoyed watching the trout go up and down that.
All in all it was a great day! Rejuvenated our spirit after being stuck inside so much and being sick to often this winter. Jacob didn't want to go home as usual, but is highly looking forward to going back and looking forward to more hikes. Emmett is really coming along as he gets older, he has been a pretty decent traveler for the most part. We are all looking forward to nicer weather in the spring and having more adventures and outings!
